About 'Chapters 1'
Chapters is a concept that God inspired during the musical creation portion of 'The Inn' soundtrack.
Tim found that 2 Samuel 22 really lent itself toward a contemporary song, mostly because it was already a song to begin with. King David, the author of most of the Psalms, laid out a great story in song - just in an ancient prose and genre. Tim took it and retold the story in a more modern format using AI to rewrite the lyrics and give it musical facelift.
The song that resulted is "My Rock, My Glory, My Crown."
The success of that endeavor spurred Tim to seek out what God might have in some other stories in the Bible. Upon doing so, he found that several of his favorites were typically contained in a single chapter. Thus the name was born.
The first song created was "My Rock, My Glory, My Crown", inspired one Sunday afternoon after his pastor (Dr. Tom Wood) preached on it that morning.
"After all of the work I had been doing on 'The Inn' and other projects, as he read the text before the sermon the rhythm of the passage just started hitting me," said Tim of the song. "Since it was a song to begin with, it was an easy first step."
From there Tim drew upon some of his favorite passages, starting with Ephesians 6 and the Armor of God. He had been working on a movie for that passage and creating a song for it seemed like a logical step. In considering its tone and style, he wanted something that mixed the modern day grit of warfare with the description and intent of each piece of armor, resulting in "Stand Your Ground."
He followed it with a piece about his favorite verse in Scripture, Jeremiah 29:11. "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." (ESV) That resulted in the song "Plans You Have For Me."
Over the years Tim had done some genealogical research on his family, finding a direct connection to Charlemagne, which gave him loose ties all the way back to Adam & Eve. Of course, along the way was the story of Isaac and Abraham. Tim has always been inspired by that story of genuine faith, even to the point of being asked to do something that ha may not always want to do. The song "One the Mountain of the Lord" was the result. (Genesis 22)
Tim then created his first song for a female vocalist in "Living Water" the tale of the Woman at the Well from John 4.
The sixth and final song created for the album was "Lions Den", retelling the story of the prophet Daniel's harrowing experience. (Daniel 6)
