Two early morning quakes rumble through Clinton

CLINTON - The United State Geological Survey (USGS) reported a pair of substantial earthquakes near Clinton early Saturday morning.

The quakes were located along I-90 almost exactly between Clinton and Bearmouth. The first hit just after midnight at 12:04 a.m. and registered as a magnitude 3.7. The second was in the same location, hitting 42 minutes later and registering as a 2.7.

Both temblors were at a depth of 6.9 miles. As a result, they were likely not felt by the area's inhabitants.

A call to the Clinton Market found that they had experienced no damage as a result of the quake.
