Prisoner dies Thursday night in Granite County

From a Granite County Sheriff's Office press release PHILIPSBURG - Granite County detention center is reporting the death of a male prisoner last night. The prisoner was discovered in his cell by staff that immediately began resuscitative efforts. Montana Department of Criminal investigation and Anaconda Deer Lodge County Coroner, Jessi Billquist was called to Detention Center to investigate. A preliminary investigation into the matter indicates the man died of apparent suicide. A Coroner’s inquest into the matter will be scheduled at a later time. No further information will be released.
